Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg are working on a new movie!

Aug. 19, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

Yeah Roy! It's been a great couple of days for Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg fans. Yesterday we learned Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will be reprising their roles from SHAUN OF THE DEAD in an upcoming episode of Phineas and Ferb, and in a recent interview with BBC 6 Music, Pegg revealed he and Edgar Wright will be teaming up again for a new movie. Pegg says they've talked a bit about it, and also already have a title for their new project.

Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We're kind of into a creative cycle now...We've all got different things [going] on and we know we have to get those things done. The coming-together thing is without question on the table and will happen when we can do it.

Pegg goes on to say the new film will be a little different compared to their movies from the Cornetto Trilogy.

When we said the trilogy was over, it was because that group of films was over. They're all kind of related with each other and deal with a specific idea. There's a criteria to those films...The next thing we do won't do that, it will just be something else. It will happen. We made three films in ten years and hopefully in the next decade we'll make another three...I really love working with those guys and I wouldn't ever not want to work with them. It's not even a question.

Speaking of one of "those guys," it hasn't been confirmed if Nick Frost will be involved, but I doubt Pegg and Wright would work on a new movie together without Frost.

Unfortunately, it's probably going to be a while before their new movie hits theaters. Simon Pegg is going to be busy soon with MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5, as well as STAR TREK 3, although it hasn't been announced exactly when production will start on the Roberto Orci movie. Edgar Wright's next film will be BABY DRIVER, and he's also attached to direct an adaptation of the Andrew Smith YA novel GRASSHOPPER JUNGLE.

How excited are you for a new movie from Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and (more than likely) Nick Frost?

Extra Tidbit: I would love to see Dylan Moran star in another Wright/Pegg/Frost movie.

Good news, for sure. I hope it involves Frost, though.

They should definitely do a comedy based on comic superheroes! Similar to what they did to the zombie genre in Shaun of the Dead and the cop action genre in Hot Fuzz. Just give Marvel a big middle finger!

The World's End is one of my favorite movies of the past decade. So much creativity and heart wrapped together so that every action is clever and hilarious at the same time. To me, Edgar and Simon's work together is consistently on a upswing and I hope that continues with whatever they do next.

The action in World's End was freakin incredible! So unique and unlike anything I've seen before. Really got me pumped to see what kind of crazy action pieces Wright had in store for Ant-man....oh well

I thought the fight scene were very tastefully done and very well choreographed. Was really looking forward to that same style in Ant Man as well.

I hope it'll be half as good as Shaun of the Dead. I wasn't a fan of Hot Fuzz or World's End.

Now that we have horror/comedy, action/comedy, sci-fi/comedy from the Cornetto trilogy, I'd love to see what the trio can do with British period drama a la Pride and Prejudice or even Downton Abbey type of thing. It should be funny.

The silver-lining to the Marvel Fiasco.

Baby Driver, and To-Be-Determined; holy fuck my body is ready. Plus Edgar Wright just shot a new music video the last few days.

I still think Shaun of the Dead is their best film as a trio. One of my favorite comedies ever.

Soloist, I think you're the only person I agree with, if only even 80% of the time, on this site.

I am now imagining Nick Frost sitting anxiously in a corner waiting to get confirmation that he is involved.

More like Frost, Pegg and Wright sitting around with a few pints and saying, "Yeah, you'll be involved. We just need to get the script together first."

The joke is that it's a given that Nick Frost is in the loop even though it sounds like he isn't at this point.
