Extended trailer for The Strain, from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Thank you, FX, for ceasing your teasing and getting to the good stuff. For what seemed like months, the network would dole out drips and drabs of imagery from “The Strain” that, while cool, didn’t really satisfy. Then last week they gifted us with a longer promo, containing actual footage from the show! What a treat!

But today brings even better news, as now we’ve got a full trailer for you! They’re still wisely not showing off too much, but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look like a solid horror series.

Produced by Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, “The Strain” stars Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomez and David Bradley.

The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

“The Strain” premiers on July 13th.
