Harrison Ford says an Indiana Jones 5 story idea has been agreed on

03.03.2010

"A germ of an idea," I should say. Also, I want to apologize in advanced, because this is like the fourth Indy 5 story in the last year that's essentially not given any real new info. It's a slow news morning.

Anyway, presumably while doing press in the UK for EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES, actor Harrison Ford spoke to the BBC about INDY 5's story saying, "Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it."

The fifth installment - which after CRYSTAL SKULL, I think we're all very wary of at this point - won't apparently be seen for quite some time. I don't think anyone expected otherwise, but okay. Ford then gets into how he, Lucas, and Spielberg got the ball rolling: "The process works like this. We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it. Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form. Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it's ready and we do it."

I suppose word coming from the Fedora-wearer himself carries with it a little more weight than from Shia LaBeouf, but still. This is non-news. But stay tuned. Hopefully some substantial info on the sequel will come down the pike soon.
Extra Tidbit: Look at Lucas in the pic above. Guy was fit during THE LAST CRUSADE! And now I feel old since I just realized that film was released 21 years ago. F*ck!

Cool...I'm there. If they just stay away from all the silliness that plagued the 4th entry...Indy 5 can rock. What concerns me is George Lucas' persistence on controlling the story. Let it go Jabba!

Cool beans!

I'm happy this franchise is still alive. Granted the last film wasn't the best but it was still pretty entertaining. We need to appreciated actors like Harrison Ford still making an effort to keep our childhood franchise alive. Can't wait!

I've accepted Indy IV for what it was but that still doesn't mean that I didn't cringe in the theater for my first showing. I'm sick of people saying that all the Indy movies were ridiculous and aliens are more realistic then religious beliefs. That's not really the reason why it sucked in so many people's eyes. The reason was the CGI jungles, the blatantly obvious sound stages they filmed on and giant set pieces with fake 50's lighting. I get what they were going for with the 50's vibe but

I get what they were going for with the 50's vibe but Indy just felt OUT OF PLACE in that type of environment and lighting. Also the lazy performance by Karen Allen, the lack of a truly terrifying villain and no sense of any real danger for Indy was also a part of it.

But hey.. I still own it.. and I still check it out from time to time. It doesn't come close to the original trilogy but it's nowhere near what the Star Wars prequels are to Star Wars. It's more of like what Die Hard 4 is to Die Hard.

So yeah.. anyway.. BRING ON INDY 5

I have this vision of Grandpa Simpson... "I rode across the Mediterranean Sea on the back of a Submarine and Defeated the Nazis Single Handedly with the Power of Jesus!"

"Yeah yeah, sure grandpa. Now take your pills."

Just Keep...

Shia LeBeouf away from this movie. I honestly wish they'd make this one happen just before "Crystal Skull". The Russians make great bad guys, just a better Russian lead.

I still think that Spielberg should do whatever it takes to drag Sean Connery out of retirement and reprise his role as Henry Jones Sr., including but not limited to giving him a BJ. MAKE IT HAPPEN, STEVE!!!

I happened to LOVE Crystal Skull. One of my all time favorite movie characters back on the big screen for the first time in almost 20 years..I was gonna take it any way I could get it. And I thought it turned out pretty good. I don't really get all the hate for it. So what if it had aliens and it was far fetched? The first 3 were very rooted in religion, which IMO, is even more bogus and far fetched than aliens. So yeah, I would love to see a 5th Indy movie. Hope they get something done soon.

I just hope they don't focus on the father/son relationship again, and it's just Indy going off on his own for one last "solo" adventure. And they better start making it soon, otherwise it'll never happen.

obviously they developed shia's character to take over the franchise, i doubt ford will have much of a role. He said he was barely able to do the last one at that age.. so things will change now?

I'm all for a new Indy as long as it learned from the mistakes of Crystal Skull. Crystal Skull was a fun movie but it had way to many things working against it. CGI was an obvious downfall but the addition of Marion killed it. They focused too much on winks to the previous films to succeed. If they have a new one, they need to drop Marion and Mutt and no CGI.

as long as they use crystal skull as a lesson for what went wrong, then i'm in. im not going to give suggestions (though they are no lebouf, no indy family, no aliens, less cgi, more stunts), but just go with what feels like good indy. if any idea starts with, "i think it would be neat if..." then pitch the idea

This franchise just truly needs to quit. I feel it's one of those rare series of films that worked so amazingly well because of the time period it was filmed in. Not only that, but Harrison Ford has totally lost his cool factor as Jones. Watching Crystal Skull felt like watching a normal modern day not-so-great adventure film with a bunch of Indiana Jones cameos.

So with that said, in MY opinion, please just let this series die. Just because Lucas doesn't have any new ideas what so ever

Crystal Skull suffered from the overuse of stupid CGI and overly cartoonish action scenes, but it was still better than Temple Of Doom. I'd love to see Indy on screen again, but just how long can Ford keep himself fit enough for the role...?

I'll always be for it...

..as long as Harrison Ford is involved. When it switches to LaDouche is when I'll probably stop seeing them, in the theaters at least. Crystal Skull was about what I was thinking it would be, non-comparable to the originals, but still a fun movie. It definitely had an Indy feel to it, and they decided to chance it with a Sci-Fi twist rather than a mystical twist. It worked for some and not for others, personally it wasn't a terrible idea, but I of course am more prone to the movie being

And please Mr. Lucas, no CG monkeys this time around, that was probably the worst scene in the movie which left a bad taste in my mouth.

I was disappointed in Crystal Skull but I didn't hate the movie. And if I watch an Indy movie it wouldn't be that one but I thought Harrison Ford did great in it.

So, I'm all for more adventures with Mr. Jones. I just hope they write Mutt off, I want the focus on Indy.

about the extra tid-bit

Lucas also has a severe thyroid disorder and he takes a steroid treatment for it, which is why he's sorta ballooned looking in a strange way over the years.
