Harry Potter to replace Jaws ride at Universal Studios after all

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With Universal Studios Orlando shutting down their 20 year-old Jaws ride, many rumors emerged stating that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, their most popular attraction from the adjacent Islands of Adventure park, would be expanded into the space it occupied. Universal has just confirmed this is indeed the case.

There’s no specific details just yet. The “entertainment environment” currently includes Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade and more, so we’ll see what else they can put in there. Perhaps you’ll be able to take the Hogwarts express from park to park, as also rumored.

This is a great decision for them, of course, and clearly will be way more of a draw than that JAWS ride. The last time I took that one our guide looked like that pimple-faced teen from “The Simpsons”, and the whole part where he was shooting the grenade launcher at the shark almost put me to sleep.

Universal has also announced that The Wizard World of Harry Potter will be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood as well, and be just as impressive as the Orlando location. Cash in on that license!

“I am delighted that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been so popular with fans since the opening in Orlando last year and I am sure that the teams at Universal and Warner Bros. will bring their expertise and attention to detail to Hollywood to make this new experience equally as exciting,” said J.K. Rowling.

No dates for the openings have been announced just yet.
