Here is a most excellent update from Keanu Reeves on Bill & Ted 3

08.07.2013

Hey dudes! Want a most excellent update on Bill & Ted 3? Actually this isn't excellent, rad, or bodacious.

After talking about a third installment over the past few years, the story is still needing adjustments. Last we heard from Alex Winter was that the script was getting some rewrites and that's the only update he had. When Keanu Reeves was recently asked about the third film, he had a similar answer:

"There have been a couple of drafts [of a Bill & Ted 3 script] and right now we're waiting on the writers to come up with another draft. But we're all very excited."

I'm excited that they are excited, however, will we get the same update two years from now? Are you Bill & Ted fans still holding out? Personally I am because I'd love to see how the characters evolved after twenty years. Reeves once said this on what journey the awesome pair might be taking:

"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us; refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life. In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."

Okay, I'll wait another two years if I have to. I'm just glad they haven't given up.

so much potential to kick so much ass... we all just gotta pray and have faith in the gods of rock and epic comedic screenwriting and filmmaking, that we get the Bill & Ted 3 that we have all been waiting for, and for it not to fall into the pit of perpetual, stagnant film development hell.... :|

Those plot points sound rather intriguing. This had all the potential in the world to go either way (be great or be terrible, hopefully it's the former).

Excellent!

I loved both those movies as a kid and would welcome a 3rd one.

Excited

"The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock." Only Keanu Reeves talks like that.

At this point I feel Im better off to watch the Bill and Ted shows at Halloween horror nights. Sure some times the writing is bad but they still are good for a laugh. Sadly with how old this is getting we might see them in walkers before we see them in a phone booth.

I'm still psyched, I'm still hopeful and I want this movie just as much if not more than I did after I walked out of the theater in 1991 having just seen (and loved) Bogus Journey.

I would rather see a Bill and Ted 3 than a Ghostbusters 3 at this point. At least Bill and Ted would have all of the core cast and characters back unlike Ghostbusters 3.

I would have written that, but I thought it would already be a given at this point.

I DO hope this becomes another Ghostbusters/JP4 "fiasco". Fiasco is really the wrong word. I would call it good fortune. If those franchises can't have good sequels, then I prefer no sequels at all.

But that's exactly why I referred to it as a fiasco.

Instead of quietly stepping away from the franchise after realising there's no stories to tell, these producers, writers, actors, etc just continue to plug and promote a pipe dream because of a refusal to let go.

That would be a disappointment all round, not only a disappointment that we didn't get the good sequel in the first place, but the disappointment that these people continue to beat a dead horse to get whatever they awful

I'm all for Bill & Ted 3, but only if done well. The same as any sequel.

I'm starting to get leery that this is becoming a "Ghostbusters 3"-like preproduction. Get rolling with it, already.

I just hope this doesn't turn into another "Ghostbusters 3" fiasco.

I appreciate waiting for the script to be a high standard, but guys (because you obviously are reading this right now) if it's not coming together in the next year or so then just move away from it, confirm it and let us have the closure instead of dragging our hopes blindly into development hell.

Or it could be like Men in Black 3 and actually be good.

It used to be people were always like "Give us a trilogy!" Now people expect the 3rd movie to be bad and would rather studios didn't bother.
