It’s a First! Battleship film has no plans for 3D

For now anyway…

So it’s a movie based on a videogame, but BATTLESHIP won’t start off immediately with a battle.

“I think it’s a really unique story and unlike a lot of those other alien stories this is really not about aliens that came here to do us harm,” says producer and Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner. “So I think you’ll find the story really interesting in that it doesn’t begin as a fight.”

Unlike everything else as of late, BATTLESHIP also has no current plans for 3D. “No discussion of 3-D at this point. I think that this is going to be a big spectacle in and out of itself.” I may feel a tad leery about a board game film, however, I can respect that statement. I’m one of many people who doesn’t feel like 3D makes everything better.

There’s definitely something to be said for director Peter Berg (ballsy?) that decides to take on a film about a game that deals with plastic pegs and ships. Then again I’m sure I’ll say the same for whoever directs the Erector set film. Although, I do have a bit more hope for this film than the Erector set one.
