Jaden stands still

01.16.2008
This story fills our daily cute quota here at Joblo.com. Yesterday it was the new RAMBO clips we presented, and today comes word that the biggest movie star in the world’s son has been cast alongside Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves in the sci-fi remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. Jaden Smith, the cuddly son of Will and Jada will be playing the stepson to Connelly’s scientist character. Keanu Reeves will be playing Klaatu, the alien that comes to Earth with a giant robot to learn about it and spread a mysterious message.

Apparently Connelly and her son become personally involved in Klaatu’s mission and see the true consequences of his declared friendship with Earth. It took Will like 30 years to star in an alien invasion movie, and his boy is doing it before puberty. So if logic follows, by the time he’s 30, Jaden should be more popular than coke, both kinds. The flick opens next December.

Extra Tidbit: The film also stars John Hamm, who just won a Golden Globe for his performance in the brilliant AMC series MAD MEN.

The Final Countdown

To Everyone: Casino Royale is not a remake, if you consider Peter Seller's Casino Royale an original 007 Bond film, which it wasn't. It was just a spoof on Ian Fleming's Casino Royale book and the other Casino Royale was a tv-show, based yet again on Ian Fleming's 007 Casino Royle.

To Hunglowman: I don't care what you do, I don't even know why you mentioned that your a screenwriter, well I guess if I was on strike, i'd be on this subject all day as well.

Anyways you still don't have any

Anyways you still don't have any respect for cinema and talking to you about this is a waste of my net time.

PS. I'm a filmmaker too, and a highly respected one at that.lol jk No I don't want your IMDB profile lol, i'm not that obsess about you. Which anyone can create nowadays.

PSS. If you read my post yet again, you will see that, I said I don't care about remakes of CRAP! Not originals and BRATZ is just an example, but i guess you took that suriously, so i'll forgive you.;)

Goodday! ^_^

x1031x

thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to let the others know that we have to spell correctly and we're pathetic because we post on the same blogs you do.

Although you sound like an expert on 14 years olds and all things pathetic (actually, you remind me of Comic Book Guy) i was just establishing who i was because that other expert challenged my credentials. believe me, i am dying to tell you who I am.

And who ever said writers are automatically good spellers? HAHAHA. You're kidding

Its a shame you come here to talk about films and automatically get slammed if you admit to making them.

By the way, x1031x, don't rail against me for admiting I'm a writer then post clearly in your profile that YOU are a writer. hypocrites are worse than bullshitters.

Don't worry, this is my last time visiting this entry. So don't bother responding...

I'm just killing time.

Two things...

The Ultimate Surfer: You are aware that they're not going to burn all copies of The Day The Earth Stood Still after this remake comes out, right? I mean, you can still watch it. I'm serious. I just watched the original Planet of the Apes last weekend. My DVD still works. Honestly.

Hunglowman: Little hint. Anyone who actually types, "I'm actually a filmmaker...a couple of awards for screenwriting," on an internet message board is immediately branded as a pathetic bullshitter...and

Hunglowman: Little hint. Anyone who actually types, "I'm actually a filmmaker...a couple of awards for screenwriting," on an internet message board is immediately branded as a pathetic bullshitter...and most likely a 14 year-old. Because, well...A) Real filmmakers, especially successful ones, don't feel the need to randomly proclaim that fact anonymously online. And B) Screenwriters tend to spell and compose grammatically perfect sentences. Especially the award-winners.

my bad

it was a live action show in the late 70's. Not a movie. My memory remembered wrong.

I stand corrected on my spiderman knowledge.

2 more good remakes: The Thing & Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Hunglowman...

I'm not calling you wrong, but how is Spider-Man a remake? I'm curious.

to Ultimate Surfer

wow. Getting personal like that is enough to get you banned (HINT HINT JOBLO)

Not only am i not an idiot, I'm actually a filmmaker with insane respect for my craft and a even a couple of awards for screenwriting. I'd give you my IMDB link but i'm afraid you'd spread your disease there too... or at least stop watching my stuff. Lord knows i love your dollar.

The bottom line is, you can cry all you want from behind you keyboard, but remakes are as old as hell and show no sign of stopping

The bottom line is, you can cry all you want from behind you keyboard, but remakes are as old as hell and show no sign of stopping and guess what? Many, many people enjoy them. Technically even Spiderman is a remake. You've already shitted on Scorcese (Cape Fear) and Kubrick(the SHinning) so now i'm wondering what you know about film at all...

I was going to craft a lengthy film lesson for you but why bother... it's about who PAYS to see your movie, not who doesn't. so in essence, you don't matter at all.

PS - I'd say you're the only man on earth clamoring for a Bratz remake. And if you really want to take a stand you should probably remove Casino Royal (the REMAKE) from you profile list of favorite movies

Remakes CAN be GOOD!

The Departed was a remake, for %$#@ sake!

If done right they can even surpass the original, much more if we think TDTESS is a really old movie. It had a good idea but was very dated and had some flaws in the story that would not be fully accepted by audiences nowadays.

As for this one, is shaping up really well. The cast is spot on (Keanu IS an alien BTW :P )and Derrickson seems like a guy with a lot of personality and ideas. I hope they really make this the biggest and best sci-fi

I heard actor Ken Watanabe is also on the cast. Anyone heard more details about it?

TO Hunglowman

I care and it's idiots like you that keep allowing Hollywood remake classics into forgotten remakes because they are just getting lazy. Remakes are easy cash cows, if you had any respect for cinema you would agree, that remakes are a waste of it, and if you read my post I said "why not remake crap, like Plan 9 or Bratz?" NOT CLASSICS, I don't mind them remaking crap! Since Mad Max 1 is crap I wouldn't mind them remaking that peace of S*At. Plus I don't really care about kids who are born

YES TO REMAKES

if you don't like it then don't see it.

Should they not have remade 3:10 to Yuma? Or Batman? or the Fly? Or Scarface? or Cape Fear?

Next you'll say "don't make a movie out of a book". And I'll just bring up The Shinning.

Who cares? Take each movie as it is, judge it on it's own merits, not what came before. And keep in mind there are kids being born right now who do not have the emotional connection to certain films that you do.

I say, if you can remake something and do it

I'm still waiting for a kick ass Mad Max remake!

F#&K REMAKES!

I love the original film, I don't care what they say, this film is going to blow like all other remakes. Now any one who is going like this remake will like it because of giant ass robot that stops the earth from rotating.

When I heard about this film geting remade that was like a slap in the face, why the hell are they remaking great classics such as The Day the Earth Stood Still, why not remake crap, like Plan 9 or Bratz? Why classics? What's next Gone with the Wind? Citizan Kane?

I mean can you imagine a remake of Citizan Kane!
