Kevin Feige talks plans for Marvel’s 10th anniversary of the MCU & beyond

Since the launch of IRON MAN in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been entertaining moviegoers with a variety of cinematic delights centered on the comic book publisher's flagship characters and beyond for nearly a decade, now. As a way of marking the studio's 10-year milestone of delivering colossal superhero action on the big screen, Marvel is planning something special as a way of saying thanks to fans who helped make the past decade such an overwhelming success.

Recently, Steve Weintraub of Collider sat down with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, and spoke about plans for the special anniversary in addition to what might be planned for the MCU's bold and bright future. You can read what Feige told Weintraub below:

“Primarily the movies we’re releasing next year are the celebration of the ten years Black Panther, obviously Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Those are the primary focus," Feige said.

"In addition to that, the logo we revealed at D23. I have fond memories in 1987 of Star Wars, the first ten years, ’78-’87. They made a logo, they had t-shirts, they did small stuff. That was during the dark ages of Star Wars, where there hadn’t been anything. Thankfully we’re not in the dark ages right now with the MCU, but I think there’ll be just acknowledgements of the ten years that have come before. There will be some merchandise released and some re-releases in home video. Primarily it is all leading up to the three movies in particular and obviously, Infinity War.”

Shortly thereafter, the conversation turned toward the possibility of Fiege sharing the titles of movies planned for 2020. For his response, the Marvel mastermind replied "Yes. It won’t be for a while. Our focus is on the next six movies. Finishing the first three phases, getting Untitled Avengers out into the world on May 19th before publicly focusing on anything else.” When asked if one of those films would come in the way of a sequel to Scott Derrickson's DOCTOR STRANGE, Feige responded by saying "Certainly, we would love to tell more about the Strange story [in a sequel].”

What Marvel characters or superhero teams would you like to hear are getting their own feature-length film in 2020? For me, I'd totally be down for a SHE-HULK film, with plans for an adaptation of G. Willow Wilson and Kelly Thompson's A-FORCE down the line. I also wouldn't mind something akin to Nick Spencer's THE SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN. I could totally see someone like Guy Ritchie or the Coen Brothers tackling that one. I'm certain that those projects I'd mentioned would be a logistics nightmare, but a guy can dream, right?
