Kevin Smith announces Clerks III will be his final film as writer/director

Kevin Smith, as a director, has two halves to his career. Any of the films in which he has played Silent Bob I love. Everything is is incredibly hit or miss. I liked ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO and RED STATE was an interesting exercise, but nothing can compete with Jay and Silent Bob.
Kevin Smith recently announced that his movie HIT SOMEBODY was going to be a television mini-series instead of a theatrical release. He also announced the following on his Twitter feed: So with the HIT SOMEBODY shift, the minute Jeff Anderson signs on, my last cinematic effort as a writer/director will be CLERKS III
Smith has talked about retiring about as often as Steven Soderbergh and Quentin Tarantino, so this is not major news, but this does put a finite stamp on when his career will come to an end. He does say "writer/director" but I doubt he would shift to directing material purely by others. This seems to be the true end to the Kevin Smith filmography.
But, on the bright side, we will be getting another CLERKS movie. I loved CLERKS and CLERKS 2 is a fun follow-up, but felt closer to MALLRATS than CLERKS, in my opinion. It would be nice to have Smith come full circle with his career and end it where he began, at the QuikStop.
Here's to hoping he can get Rosario Dawson to come back!

I swear, that guy's retired more times than The Who
Least Favourite? Red State

My least favorite of Smith's movies (that I have seen) is Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It has it's moments, but part of Smith's charm is the underdog quality of his movies. In particular, I don't think Jay and Silent Bob needed their own movie (though it did let them tie together all the characters from the prior movies). While most of his movies are crude, I don't really find Jay as interesting as Holden or Dante.
My favorite thing he ever did was the Clerks animated series.
That being said, and bring on the hate and dislikes for this I don't care, I am totally done with the guy. He is certainly talented, but not nearly as talented as he himself thinks he is
That being said, and bring on the hate and dislikes for this I don't care, I am totally done with the guy. He is certainly talented, but not nearly as talented as he himself thinks he is and he's become way too self indulgent in the last decade. Just watch this thing called an Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evenig Harder(or something like that) it should be illegal for someone to be so in love with himself. I also can't stand the fact that anyone who criticises on of his movies in even the smallest way, is immediately a stupid dick in his opninion. Even more so since he never seems shy to criticise other people's stuff. So Even though I own all his early View Askew films on dvd and will continue to enjoy them for years to come. I am not interested in anything the guy does or says anymore unless he starts becoming a little bit more humble.

Clerks 2 is the worst
Extra Tidbit: My favorite has to be Mallrats, it has the best soundtrack and all of my favorite pop culture references. Not to mention Brodie Bruce, my favorite Kevin Smith character of all time!
Least favorite I'd go Chasing Amy, I think the movie is fine but I actually liked it more when I saw it the first time as a naive kid. As an adult everyone but Allysa seems mad immature and I actually understand and at least relate more to Banky than Holden.
Worst I'd have to say Red State, I just couldn't care about any of the characters; which should never happen in a Kevin Smith flick.
Jesus
I'm getting tired about hearing about his non-announcements in the news. Between this and Dan Akroyd's Ghostbusters 3 updates, it's a neck-and-neck tie for who's more full of shit.

Best film: Clerks 2
