Magic & adventure is what the latest Kubo And The Two Strings trailer craves

When a new LAIKA film is coming your way, you should probably open your eyes and pay attention. The stop-motion animation studio, which has been responsible for CORALINE, PARANORMAN and THE BOXTROLLS (all very solid films), has another on tap for this summer and today they unveiled a much more story-driven look at KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS.

A magical adventure movie about a kid who must carve his own path and live up to the legacy of his father in order to battle those who wish to do him and his surroundings harm? Sounds like the kind of film that’s right up my alley and it is also primed to be the exact type of movie made for kids to embrace during the summer months. There’s excitement to be found here, in addition with a simple story that hopefully engages audiences both young and old.

Yeah, there’s a lot of promise shown here with KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS.

KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS arrives in theaters on August 19.
