Mary Makes It Happen

After kicking vigilante ass in Quentin Tarantino’s half of GRINDHOUSE, being witness to terrorist ass whupping as John McClane’s daughter in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, Mary Elizabeth Winstead feels her acting skills have been honed enough to join the ranks of Jessica Alba, Julia Stiles and (to a certain extent) Jenna Dewan in her very own “small town girl trying to make it in the big bad world of professional dance” drama. In this case, the film is MAKE IT HAPPEN, is under DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN director Darren Grant and in it, Winstead character’s dreams of making it as a professional dancer are sidelined by a stint as a burlesque dancer. Expect an unlikely source teaching her the true meaning of dance, a montage of dance practice follies and a show stopping final dance number that’ll take your goddamn breath away. Because she’s gonna make it, alright. She’s gonna make it happen! Duane Adler, who can whip out a heart-tugging dance drama faster than Tarantino can write pointless comic book referencing dialogue and, naturally, wrote Stiles’ (SAVE THE LAST DANCE) and Dewan’s (STEP UP) breakthrough dance opuses, is, of course, scripting. Winstead can next be seen in the aforementioned LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD.
