Matthew McConaughey's name pops up in relation to a lot of high-profile projects nowadays, and the latest project which the actor may become involved with is the long-delayed feature adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower". The Wrap reports that preliminary discussions have taken place between McConaughey and the studio and, while neither side has committed to anything, interest is very high in striking a deal.

Who might Matthew McConaughey play in THE DARK TOWER? Well, The Wrap claims that McConaughey has been offered two roles in the film, that of gunslinger Roland Deschain as well as the villainous Man in Black. However various outlets say that Matthew McConaughey is leaning more towards the role of the villain as he'd like to "embrace his dark side." McConaughey has received a copy of the script for THE DARK TOWER and will likely decide whether or not to accept the role before too long. Nikolaj Arcel (THE ROYAL AFFAIR) is signed on to direct THE DARK TOWER from a script by Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner.

Matthew McConaughey will next be seen in THE FREE STATE OF JONES, which tells the story of defiant Southern farmer Newt Night and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. THE FREE STATE OF JONES is set to hit theaters on May 13, 2016.
