Michael Fassbender on his dual role in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant

Alien: Covenant Michael Fassbender

Even after getting myself hyped up a little too much over PROMETHEUS, I'm still very excited to see where Ridley Scott plans on taking the story in ALIEN: COVENANT. From what we've heard of the film so far, it seems that Scott is looking to give audiences something more like what they were expecting to get with PROMETHEUS. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen, but I'm never one to turn down whatever Ridley Scott is serving up. As far as the cast of ALIEN: COVENANT is concerned, it will mostly be comprised of new characters, but Michael Fassbender will be returning as David as well as Walter, another android of the same model stationed aboard Covenant.

While chatting with Coming Soon about ASSASSIN'S CREED, in which Fassbender plays another dual role, the actor commented on what we can expect from this new android.

I think Walter’s a real different kettle of fish. David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter’s more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego.

Based on what Michael Fassbender is saying, I suspect that you will be able to find similarities between David and Ian Holm's Ash from ALIEN as well as Walter and Lance Henriksen's Bishop from ALIENS. Fingers crossed for a David vs. Walter android battle. ALIEN: COVENANT also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Billy Crudup, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Noomi Rapace and will burst into theaters on May 19, 2017.
