FX series Taboo starring Tom Hardy releases new trailer

Who doesn't love Tom Hardy? The man is an acting machine. From his breakout role in BRONSON, to his recent role as Mad Max in FURY ROAD, where he not only filled the shoes of Mel Gibson, but he (arguably) even wore them better, Hardy always brings it. Hell, I'll be the first to admit I didn't like his Bane voice in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, but damn if it wasn't at least unique and memorable (and how many A-listers you think would be willing to have half their face covered for the entire 4-hour running time? The answer probably isn't zero, but it sure as shit can be counted on your fingers). So I'm excited for whatever he decides to be a part of.

And the next thing Hardy's going to be a part of is a show he co-developed with Ridley Scott called TABOO. Not much is known about the project, other than it is set in the early 1800s and revolves around adventurer James Keziah Delaney as he builds a shipping empire in the early 1800s.

FX has released a new trailer:

Ooh. Ooooh. This looks so good you guys! So good! For one, I just love how surreal everything looks (I mean, it's probably a dream or a vision, but what the f*ck was that woman at the beginning?) And despite TABOO being a period piece, this isn't any sort of costume drama. It's going to be f*cked up, weird, and, above all, unique (if the trailer is anything to go by). It looks like it's going to be a somehow longer THERE WILL BE BLOOD, only more surreal and involving shipping instead of oil. And while Ridley Scott is a bit more of an x-factor for me (I know people are fans, and that's cool, but other than THE MARTIAN I haven't really liked many of his recent films, especially PROMETHEUS), I'm still down. Maybe Scott got his groove back?

But what do you guys think? And favorite Hardy role (isn't an easy one)?

TABOO will premiere on FX early 2017.
