The new WATCHMEN trailer is here. Where we've been teased before with teaser trailers and Comic-Con footage and Scream Awards clips, this is the real deal. I'm not sure if we'll get another trailer before WATCHMEN hits theaters in March but this is about as close to a full trailer as I can imagine. And man is it good. While I've been critical of some of the artwork for the film, the visuals are all absolutely astounding. The acting is top-notch, the attention to detail is incredible, the effects are breathtaking... I think you'll just have to watch this one for yourself. Check it out below or head to Yahoo! Movies to see it in HD.

Those are the lyrics to Muse's utterly fantastic and epic "Take a Bow," which is not only makes for a nice touch in this new trailer but also fits the Watchmen universe quite well. The song is about corruption, the failure of leaders (past or present), and the numerous sins committed by leaders, dictators, rulers, etc. I would argue that Muse's "Take a Bow" is a superior song selection than the Smashing Pumpkins' "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning."

As for the trailer, it was fantastic, and I look forward to seeing it on the big screen. I seriously hope "Watchmen" is a fucking brilliant film, because after these trailers and the exclusive Comic-Con footage, my anticipation is through the roof now.

March cannot come soon enough.

I didn't see this at the QoS screening I went to tonight either. They did show Star Trek though... Which started out like some godawful fuckin' toy commercial... But it picked up pretty quickly.

Can anybody tell me...
...if they've seen this in theaters yet? I'm resolved to resist the urge and not watch this until I can see it on the big screen (as I did with the first trailer). I was pumped to go see Quantum of Solace last night because I thought they'd show the trailer for sure, but they didn't. Is my theater just lame or was this not attached to Quantum after all? The comment mentioned how it could be an attempt to capture the freeze frame nature of the comic books. The art in comic books are essentially captures of moments, and a film can do this by slowing down a scene, making it almost like a frame in the comic book. I think that works when used sparingly, like on moments of impact (the Comedian being thrown out the window and the fight preceding it); it can also be used to kind of capture an important moment, which is what the art in comic books do. Of course, it can be annoying when overusing it, and I can't say this was Zack Snyder's reason, but if used only on moments that the director wants to emphasize, like a comic book artist would, there can be a creative purpose for it. Whatever the case, this does look good. Hopefully it won't get caught up on what essentially is, when overused, an annoying gimmick.

Laurie doesn't necessarily believe Jon can do what he says he can. Or she doesn't want to seem like she does, anyway. His capabilities *are* pretty nuts.

Muse music is misplaced and cut awkwardly, other than that it looks ok-ish. I have an inkling that Malin Ackerman cannot pull of the emotional intensity necessary for her role as Laurie. And the guy they got for Veidt looks pretty bad.

Also, Rorschach's voice sounds like Christian Bale's 'I Gargled Acid' voice in the Batman movies.

Overall very nice...
There's only a couple of shots that look like crap (like that flame-thrower scene)... side from that this looks great! The other concern is that Zack Synder turned a very cool looking 300 into a dull mess.

How weird. I just revisited Koyaanisqatsi a couple hours ago. Glass is genius... and so is Fricke (though I can't say the same for Reggio, as I thought the last two installments of the qatsi trilogy were rubbish).

Cant wait to see this film. The cinematography is amazing, though I'm praying Snyder hasn't abused the use of slow-motion like he did with 300. Seriously, if that film...

Did anyone else notice the shifting of Rorschach's mask? Not just at his close-up at the end but in his other scenes. If you look carefully you can see it. It's so wonderfully subtle and flawless.

God I am so excited for this flick.

Glass rules!
Great trailers for this movie. The music of the first trailer with Smashing Pumpkins just blended so well with the scenery. And this one is great as well. Philip Glass is pretty much my favorite modern composer and I love just about anything with is compositions in it. To bad he's not doing the score, then, I guess that would be to epic.

One peeve I have is in CGI they just can never get the lips moving right. Always looks weird to me. Dr. Manhattan just didn't seem right the way he moved and talked (the voice sounds just like Matthew Fox too, which threw me off).

Oh well, so far this is my most anticipated movie of 2009, with Trek next and well, there's quite a few coming next year I can't wait for.

@toes, yes, in the movie, they calls themselves the Watchmen i think, just something they added in. as for Jon, technically, the whle point of the latter half of the Graphic novel was that Jon couldnt see very clearly into the future anymore, something was messing with his visions. so, it is not something they just made up. (i will say though, i also cant say i am crazy about Manhattan sounding so ... normal, he is supposed to basically be emotionally dead and detached, i didnt get that feeling)

anyway, @Mark Rumsfield, there was nothing cheese about it, i think your definition of cheesy is just a bit off. and Rorschach's voice is just fine, they didnt copy anything. as for the subplot in 300, yes it was stupid, but they had to add something, take it out and we get like 1.5 hours of sweaty men wearing hardly any clothes. now, we get almost 2 hours of sweaty men wearing hardly any clothes with a little Lena Headey looking hot and whoring herself out thrown in. i mean what else could they have done, there isnt a huge cast a characters they could have played around with.

just because he talks in a deep raspy voice it's a rip-off of batman? you can't copyright a voice, if so we'd all be screwed for doing christopher walken impersonations. this movie is going to be amazing. and yes those are harsh words for scenes that hardly took 10 minutes of the film and you are blaming that over the whole film... lame. "talentless buffoon" would you like to watch the trailer...

They must keep Philip Glass's music, man does it fit the Watchmen well! Classy, eccentric, moody and foreboding at the same time. Who cares about the crappy poprock later in the trailer. Rorschach could turn out to be the coolest comicbook character on film ever.

Looks pretty bad to me
I'm not liking Rorschach's voice, it's just a rip-off of Bale's Batman voice (and that voice didn't even work in those movies so why copy it), and I also don't like that Dr. Manhattan sounds like a human, and a puny sounding human no less. Also, it looked very cheesy, however, I thought the first trailer looked cheesy until I saw it in theaters so that might be the case this time as well.

I HATED 300 so I have no confidence in this director. He is a talentless buffoon as far as I'm concerned. Those are some harsh words but I feel entitled to say that having endured the truly f#cking terrible subplot he wrote for 300 that wasn't in the graphic novel and involved the Queen whoring herself out. How f#cking lame, and it really got on my nerves because Lena Headey is such a good actress. It offended my sense of good taste to see her in such garbage.

Thought the graphic novel of Watchmen was very good though so I will see this movie but I'm not excited at all for it.

Rorschach's voice sounds just like I imagine it would when I read the book.
