Game of Thrones Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will be seen back in the role of Jaime Lannister when Game of Thrones returns to HBO airwaves for its eighth and final season sometime next year, but in the meantime the actor has taken the lead role in director Anders Engström's thriller THE SILENCING.

Sporting a script written by Micah Ranum that won the Nicholl Fellowship international screenwriting competition, THE SILENCING will tell the story of

a reformed hunter who becomes involved in a deadly game of cat and mouse when he sets out to track a vicious killer who may have kidnapped his daughter years ago.

Cybill Lui of Anova Pictures is producing the project, with XYZ Films executive producing. Lui describes THE SILENCING as

a visceral thriller filled with complex characters, each with a dark past beridden with guilt."

The producer is sure Engström's vision of this hunt for a killer will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. It does sound promising; the idea that the killer may be responsible for the abduction of the hunter's daughter could add a nice layer of intense emotion to the film.

We'll see once THE SILENCING is complete. Filming is expected to take place in Europe this fall.
