Ridley Scott will tie his Prometheus story back into Alien eventually

It's going to take a bit of patience, but one day, sometime down the line, Ridley Scott is going to bring his PROMETHEUS story arc together with ALIEN. Once that happens, I'm sure someone will make the claim that it was all worth it, but we're still talking at least two PROMETHEUS films before we even come close to getting there.

In a recent interview, Scott was asked about if these two parallel stories will ever intersect, and his answer...

Yes, but it won’t be in the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the ‘Alien’ franchise… The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.

Are you serious...?! Three... maybe four PROMETHEUS films...?! I know there are some who are game for the sequel Scott is planning to shoot in 2016, but, if you're in that camp, do you really have the stomach for a third or a fourth, just to get to the point where everything all comes full circle? That sounds like a tall task to me, and one I don't know I'm willing to embark on. But good luck to you if you are. Looks like you've got a long road ahead of you.

Just fine with that. Of all the hidden mysteries of the cosmos can't be answered in one book, so why answer all the questions about the Aliens in a few movies. I feel there's been way too much moaning about Scott and writers not clarifying their decisions. I enjoy seeing these movies and having several questions, it keeps them in your head for a very long time and obviously for this site, an excellent method for conversation.

I loved the first one, I'm dying for the second one, but I don't think we'll ever get a THIRD one. Seems like the green light for 2 was a coin-flip to begin with, so it must be that Ridley knows something we don't and he's guaranteed more installments in his deal...or he's pressuring the studio into making it happen. I'd rather see the second segue into Alien and leave it at that, with a complete guaranteed connection and no gaps.

I liked Prometheus fine. Not what I wanted it to be at allllll but I still liked it. Really suprised they're actually going ahead with the sequel (it seems like one of those films that lives as its own little oddity). Scott is in no hurry to connect it to Alien which is probably a good thing. Most peoples complaints with the original was that it wasn't satisfying as an Alien prequel. Take that away and you could have a unique and successful series in it's own right. And more of Fassbender's

Would choose a Xenomorph comeback over another helping of Engineer any day.

If Ridley would be heavily involved then I would be all game for another sequel or two. Enjoyed the first one immensly despite the flaws.

Not a fan of this writer, just report the news & throw in your 2 cents, but don't go into a full on rant, that's basic journalism 101, even if it is on the net. Now here's my 2 cents, Prometheus gets better & better after mutliple viewings, so hopefully the sequels can fill in some of the gaps.

Prometheus wasn't a perfect movie, but I enjoyed it. Scott seems excited to be back with sci-fi films, and I'm happy to have him there. And he's always able to put together an A-list cast, so hopefully we get introduced to some interesting characters in the future films that keep us invested. As long as Scott is captaining the ship, I'm happy to be along for the ride.

It's clear Scott knows what he has planned and i tmakes sense to tell the stories of the originators!

This just don't make sense...

Listen clearly the first film tied to alien... the creators of the materials that created the aliens... the being created for war. Us as husks for them... how do people seem to not pick that up from Prometheus? I just don't get it. It is clearly part of the alien universe. If people need an engineer to do battle with ripley or something well... I just don't see that happening. I thought other than the "Fly in to the great beyond" ending... it was a really cool take on the origins of the alien
