Rourke rides Horses

Bad hair days aside, it must feel pretty good to be Mickey Rourke right now. Besides getting a prime opportunity in a meaty (if sweaty) role in THE WRESTLER, he’s also getting the appropriate amount of critical acknowledgment for it.

And with that comes even more proposals, including possible roles in IRON MAN 2 (unless Marvel cheaps out — seriously, $250k ??) and old chum Sly Stallone’s THE EXPENDABLES, and now a crime story called BROKEN HORSES.

The project comes from Indian writer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is apparently the proverbial “big deal” in his home country. BROKEN HORSES, described only as a “gangster caper”, marks Chopra’s Hollywood debut and will film in New York and New Mexico. Chopra was fortunate enough to lock down Rourke before his Golden Globe win.
