Sam Worthington may fight Chris Pine for Reese Witherspoon in This Means War

If you’re already suffering from Sam Worthington fatigue, better pop a couple of blue ones and just sit back and relax — the Aussie isn’t going anywhere for a long while.

Worthington is the latest wanted for the endlessly-in-development romantic action comedy THIS MEANS WAR, in which he would join fellow sudden A-lister Chris Pine (STAR TREK). The pair would play former best friends and black-ops agents who fall in love with the same woman (Reese Witherspoon), and wind up in an escalating destructive competition to win her heart.

The Fox project has been in the works for over a decade, with people like Martin Lawrence, Gore Verbinski and Bradley Cooper once involved (not to mention a small army of screenwriters). McG is the current director on deck.

Worthington (who also has a bunch of other potential franchises like QUATERMAIN and DAN DARE in his pile) may not be able to juggle the schedule — he’s also considering the heist drama MAN ON A LEDGE. (Apparently the studio’s backup plan is Colin Farrell.)
