Theater chains announce 27-hour Marvel movie marathon ending with Avengers 2

03.05.2015

Avengers: Age of Ultron Joss Whedon Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans James Spader

AMC Theaters and Regal Entertainment have announced they will be hosting a Marvel "Ultimate Marathon Event" with back-to-back screenings of all 11 Marvel films (similar to the 2012 marathon for THE AVENGERS), culminating with AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. The marathon will begin on April 29 with IRON MAN, and end on April 30 with THE AVENGERS sequel. If you purchase a marathon ticket for a Regal theater you'll also get an "exclusive collectable medallion." Tickets are $65 each, which is a pretty good deal since it comes out to about $5.91 per movie, and select Cinemark, Megaplex, Harkins and National Amusements theaters are reportedly also participating in the event.

Regal hasn't posted their schedule for the event yet, but here's how the marathon will play out at AMC theaters:

6:00pm IRON MAN
8:25pm THE INCREDIBLE HULK
10:35pm IRON MAN 2
1:00am THOR
3:10am CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
5:30am THE AVENGERS
8:48am IRON MAN 3
11:15am THOR: THE DARK WORLD
1:45pm CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
4:20pm GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
7:00pm AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (RealD® 3D)

While AMC hasn't announced which theaters will have the marathon, Regal locations can be found here. If you don't think your ass will be able to handle sitting in a theater for 11 movies, Regal and Cinemark are also doing a double feature of THE AVENGERS and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on April 30.

One could very easily just watch the previous movies at home before going to see AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, but it is still an awesome deal, and I'm sure there are more than a few people who are interested in seeing the Marvel flicks again on the big screen.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON opens on May 1, 2015.

Ha ha, what's next? A Bond marathon of 23 films before Spectre comes out.
That's still a lot of money considering what I spent on the blu-rays. Some of those films would be cool to see on the big screen again, but not all of them.

Image just how awful the theater is going to smell after 27 hours of the same people sitting there

27 hours of the same people siting in the same seat, eating the same theater popcorn, wearing the same clothes. Take the smell of a full Jr. High classroom in winter with all the windows and doors shut and multiple it by 10!
I sat through The Lord of The Rings trilogy in 2003 (11 and half hours) and The Dark Knight trilogy in 2012 (9 hours). That was a lot to sit through for outstanding cinema classics. 27 hours is insane! Most of the movies for this Ultimate Marvel Marathon are not even

27 hours of nothing but Marvel Studio movies. Why?

Marvel needs to abandon The Incredible Hulk. Doesn't make sense to include it considering the complete lack of continuity with the rest of the MCU.

It has continuity, The Abomination is mentioned a few times in Agents of Shield and the One Shots that fill in the gaps.

As cool as this is, I do not have the patience to endure this.

Don't get me wrong, I would if I could, but after 4 or 5 movies I would be antsy and that isnt taking into account how tired you would be by the time Avengers 2 came on. You would be hardly capable of staying awake and in that case I wouldn't enjoy the movie.

This is cool but I'd never do it. Not only are there a few films I don't care to see again (cap 1, THOR 2), I'd be real antsy by the time A2 came on. Prolly irritated by someone's infant too. I'd be down if I could see Ultron first tho

I did the Avengers marathon three years ago, and it was an awesome experience, but very exhausting. The 30 minute breaks began to feel like two minutes, and the last 3 films were in 3D so headaches started. Part of me would love to do this one, but I don't think I could handle it.

Someone should win something, if they could sit through this from start to finish! There should be an award, or maybe a role as an extra in avengers 3 or some shit. I don't know if I could pull this off at my age.

This is where the move fans get weeded out from the movie addicts

I did the Die Hard Marathon in theaters when the last one was released and while it was fun I still remember how I felt afterwards: the popcorn and red vine induced nausea, the sore butt cheeks from sitting in the chair all day, and the smell of fake butter flavor that had seeped into everything I was wearing that day. I swear I would never do it again...however like a drunk that swears this will be his last drink, I'll be damned if I am not trolling Facebook for a friend to suffer through

I remember doing the LOTR marathon in theatres when Return of the King was released, which was insane. I can't imagine doing a 27 hour long marathon. The youth of today's generation should be able to stare at a screen for that long....

If I were younger I would totally do it. But if I tried now, I would probably fall asleep during the middle of it.

I would rather just watch the films and have a marathon of them on the comfort of my own couch.

This one is too long. I usually can't go to these things because of work but i could this year. But it's too long. Maybe if i had friends that would want to go with me. I think i'll marathon it at home for the week leading up to Avengers 2.

Can you imaging when Infinity War part 2 comes out? 20 movie marathon?

FOREVER YOUNG

If I didn't had a family, I would have done it with friends -- I think this is a fun experience only if you go with friends --- Honestly, during a few of those movies in the middle of the night I am going to fall asleep, etc ... but again, only if friends are there -- Along, it will be boring and tiresome! Good Luck who ever tries it!

I'm sure there will be people who like this kind of thing but this isn't my cup of tea. Once I entered a Horror movie marathon and ended up opting out - 3 movies in a row and I already got a giant headache.

Insane

I did the Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises marathon....i think it ran 7pm to almost 3am....it had 45-60 breaks between films. It was a struggle...I cant imagine do this endurance viewing. Maybe if I was a teenager.

JESUS!!!

By the time you get to Age of Ultron you'd fall asleep and miss that. I think I'd rather just watch the 11 movies throughout a few days before hand. Heck you'd be so tired you wouldn't even care to watch Age of Ultron and more than likely not be able to process it.

I am a movie addict but...

I am not a fan of this kind of things...
Too long, and too boring even if the movies are very god, I need to digest a movie before watching a new one, even if I have seen al of those movies...
I know it is a popular american thing, the last time I came t US, I did with a friend the FX Simpsons marathon (every Úpisodes ever), at the end, I saw people in yellow....
