Trailer for Catherine Hardwicke’s Plush is a rock ‘n roll nightmare

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Catherine Hardwicke, whose work as a director started off so promisingly with the fantastic THIRTEEN and THE LORDS OF DOGTOWN before delivering the craptacular TWILIGHT and the embarrassing RED RIDING HOOD, has teamed up with the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and INSIDIOUS for the rock 'n roll thriller PLUSH, starring Emily Browning, and we've got the trailer for you to check out below.

Unfortunately everything about this trailer screams 'straight to VOD fodder', even though PLUSH is scheduled to hit theaters this Friday, September 13. It has a very generic feel to it – nothing new to see here, move on. Hopefully I'm wrong, though I fear that I'm right.

After losing her band mate and brother to a drug overdose, rising rock star Hayley finds herself in a downward spiral. The new album from her band Plush is received as a critical and commercial disaster. She finds new hope and friendship in Enzo, the replacement guitarist who inspires her to reach new creative heights. But soon their collaboration crosses the line and Hayley, who is married with two children, retreats from Enzo's advances. As Hayley slowly discovers Enzo's dark and troubled history, she realizes she may have let a madman into her home and that her mistake may cost the lives of people closest to her.

PLUSH stars Emily Browning, Cam Gigandet, and Xavier Samuel. It opens September 13th.
