Universal delays the Daniel Craig thriller Dream House

Universal was set to release the thriller DREAM HOUSE, which stars Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz, this upcoming February but the studio has now pushed the film back indefinitely. After filming it was decided that additional reshoots were needed, as is relatively common with productions, but the wrinkle here is that Craig was in Sweden filming THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and won’t be available to return to LA until mid-December.

With no option but to wait, the studio is locking down a mid-December date for reshoots and the February 18th date has been moved to a TBD 2011. Reshoots were ordered back in August after a mid-summer test screening left a little lacking. They were originally set to film in late-September/early-October but Craig was already with Fincher making that date impossible to meet.

In the film, Craig and Weisz star as a couple who move from New York to a country town in New England. Upon arriving, they find out that their house, yes THE dream house, was the site of a grisly murder before they moved in. Craig and his neighbor, Naomi Watts, set out to find out exactly what happened. Is it me, or does this logline already heavily hint at what’s going to happen in the third act?

BTW, if you’re counting, this will be Craig’s third film in 2011 along with the aforementioned TATTOO and COWBOYS & ALIENS.
