Universal to get cerebral when they adapt Warren Ellis' Injection for TV

Word has come down the wire via The Hollywood Reporter that Universal Cable Productions is looking to adapt prolific writer Warren Ellis and celebrated artist Declan Shalvey's INJECTION comic books series for a chance to blow viewers minds on the small screen. The report indicates that the studio has optioned the property presented to readers via Image Comics in 2015, when Ellis, Shalvey, and colorist Jordie Bellaire took cerebral sci-fi to parts unknown in their psychedelic tale of artificial intelligence, magic, and evil at the center of humankind's hubris.

Once upon a time, there were five crazy people. And they poisoned the 21st Century. Now they have to deal with the corrosion to try and save us all from a world becoming too weird to support human life. It is science fiction, tales of horror, strange crime fiction, techno-thriller, and a ghost story all at the same time. A serialized sequence of graphic novels - upon which the show will be based - tells of how loud and strange the world is getting, about the wild future and the haunted past all crashing into the present day at once. It also serves as a horrific warning about five eccentric geniuses dealing with the paranormal and numinous as well as the growing weight of what they did to the planet with the Injection. Will they be able to save the world from themselves? We'll just have to watch and find out.

Known for his work on Netflix's CASTLEVANIA series, as well as the comic books Transmetropolitian, Trees, Planetary, Gun Machine, The Wild Storm, DV8, Supreme Blue Rose, Switchblade Honey and much more, Ellis' INJECTION stands to turn the reality we think we know upside down, making our escape from the hell on Earth we've all created all the more difficult.

Will you line up to receive your INJECTION when the show eventually arrives? Have you read the graphic novels associated with the project? You haven't? Oh wow, you should totally get on that. They're a super-dense read, but I promise that by the third issue, you'll be hooked. Also, the art contributed by both Shalvey and Bellaire is breath-taking. I highly recommend checking it out. We'll be sure to bring you more news about INJECTION as it happens. Cheers!
