Unused Moon posters

09.21.2009

Why yes, it is a rather slow news day, which is why I'm putting up posters for a movie that came out months ago, but I wouldn't be doing it unless they were pretty damn cool. Quiet Earth has somehow dug up a series of posters that were professionally created, but ultimately unused for Duncan Jones’ MOON. No fan art here, these are strictly legit.

I’ve posted two of my favorites below (crystal ball and fetal Sam Rockwell), but click on them to head over to QE for two more (Apollo 13 and super '70s Sam Rockwell). I wish these were available for purchase, but right now you’ll have to be content with printing them out and blowing them up at Kinko’s.

Extra Tidbit: Moon or D9?

Moon just had incredible marketing. I purposefully avoided trailers and tv spots so I could see it pure of spoilers, and I'm glad I did and all, but the posters they had going for em are just incredible. Brilliant marketing on their part.
(and extra tidbit: moon, by quite a bit.)

Cool posters, but the second one is too 2001. I want to watch this movie, when is it being released on Blu-ray!?

Apples and Oranges

I thought both were great. You can't really compare the two, because they are completely different movies. That being said, I'd have to go with Moon. It may be the best film I've seen this year.

Since this is the last time I might get to do this, I'm going to switch things around and say "Aw man, I thought these were going posters for the highly anticipated soon-to-be horror/romance classic 'New Moon'!"

Great posters, especially the 2nd one. Still angry about missing it due to the very limited release.

I wish I knew!

I REALLY want to see Moon, but it got such limited release that I wasn't able to see it, and Netflix still lists its Blu-Ray (and DVD) release as "Unknown." :-(

Moon

I'm more than happy with the poster they went with.
But Moon was way better than D9. Better story, better performance, better effects, and a score that towers over all other scores this year.

It's funny how a three-year timeline factors into the plots of both Moon and D9.

I thought D9 was a very good movie, but I thought Moon was even better. Moon was a fantastic movie from beginning to end.

i preferred Moon to D9. just thought it was a better film. D9 seemed like it was trying to be too many things and i felt it had some weak points in the plot. and sam rockwell was fantastic, as usual.

This was my most anticipated movie of the summer, and it played nowhere near where I live, and I can't for the life of me find it online. This is torturous. Great posters though.

I like these ones better than the one they went with, not that it's horrible.

Great posters, although I do still like the one they went with. They were both great in their own right though. Both touched on different subjects not often touched upon in modern sci-fi and both featured amazing performances, ones that both will be forgotten come January. Rockwell having the better shot, but still, if history proves itself... The Academy doesn't know he exists after snubbing him year after year, but nominating Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman for anything they touch.

Not seen either of them

Love the first poster and they are both supposed to be great but I spent my money on seeing GI JOE instead.

Sci Fi is a generic term thats used for these sort of films, if D9 aint Sci Fi then neither is star trek, Star Wars or any others according to this guy the only genuine sci fi flics must be 2001 moon and sunshine.

Well, Star Trek (in its current incarnation) isn't science fiction. The original series was science fiction, TNG was not.

Moon

D9 was a good flick, but it's getting overhyped. Moon was a perfect flim as far as I can tell, one of the very best of the year.

Moon.

Moon easily takes it because it had a defined story. D9 had a pseudo-story and a lot of shit that blew up at the end. Moon was actual science fiction, while D9 was not.

Yeah, go ahead and let the negative votes amass, but I am right.

D9

i give it to D9 altho i dont think you can compare the two. Sharlto Copley deserves a Breakthrough performance nom while Rockwell deserves an Oscar nom. and i agree, they should've went with the second.
