Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson will reunite as Interns

02.08.2012
If you've been eagerly awaiting a WEDDING CRASHERS reunion, then this news might make you happy.

Vulture is reporting that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson will be teaming up for a comedy called INTERNS for director Shawn Levy (REAL STEEL, DATE NIGHT). The project comes written by Vaughn himself, which could make it somewhat more interesting.

The two funnymen "will play forty-ish company guys who both get laid off in a downsizing. Convinced they’ve gone about managing their careers entirely wrong, they resolve to become interns at a Google-like dotcom and start anew. Suddenly, the two old chums are competing against wily, fresh-faced 22 year olds for advancement." I don't know, but doesn't this idea feel ten years too late?

INTERNS comes as a result of two other projects falling apart for Levy and Vaughn. For Levy, it was his impending $80 million remake of FRANKENSTEIN, while Vaughn lost the atrocious-sounding THE INSANE LAWS. Both films caved due to budgetary issues (and in the case of THE INSANE LAWS, talk says it was largely due to Vaughn's inability to take a pay cut).
Extra Tidbit: 2 GUNS - a project we just updated you on - was originally going to be Vaughn and Wilson's reunion vehicle.

Eh, will be a nice rainy day movie. I will say why I think Vaughn is good for the occasional ad lib, left to his own devices you get stuff like the break up, so not expecting much

All of their comedic output has been seriously lacking recently, so I doubt this'll be anything worthwhile.

To be fair, Wilson was pretty awesome in "Midnight in Paris."

Vaughn has played it too safe for most of his career, and this sounds a little too late and a little too rote. No thanks.
