What the Shrek is up with these new posters?

Mar. 25, 2010by:

Are there still a lot of SHREK fans out there? Someone must be going to see them -- they make a ton of money and the series is already up to the fourth entry, SHREK FOREVER AFTER.

The latest 3D fantasyland satire is purported the "final chapter" -- after this, it's all ogre (a-hurr). Check out the hysterically clever new character sheets below.

Extra Tidbit: Odd that so many people flock to Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy in animated form, but avoid their live-action movies like they were being projected on the flayed flesh of children and cuddly animals.

Look at the witches faces, they look terrible, like something from a PS2 game.

Shrek got played out with it's reliance on pop culture references and fart jokes. The first was good, due to it's freshness, the second was okay and I never watched the third (my kids have the DVD and only watched it once, so that's a telling sign). The only chance that this movie has is to stop relying on the lowest common denominator and try to actually tell a good story for once. This is coming from Dreamworks, so I doubt that it will happen. I'm hoping that their Dragon flick that I'm

I'm hoping that their Dragon flick that I'm taking my kids to see today will be one of their better films, as they have about a 1 to 3 hit to miss ratio for flicks.

Side note: How many kids are going to get in trouble at school for using the taglines from these posters?

And...HELLO! No coverage whatsoever of the critically acclaimed How To Train Your Dragon? What gives? Oh yeah, it's not a Pixar film, my bad.

Alright, A) they did cover that movie, and the review of it on this site was raving about it (giving it a 9/10, I believe), B) it's no longer news,s ince it HAS ALREADY COME OUT!

Also, this isn't a Pixar film, but here we are talking about it, or how about yesterday's non-Pixar related news of the new trailer for Despicable Me?

Your post below is retarded, and makes little sense.

Once you get some smarts, I beg you to come back, until then, stay away, us real movie fans have a hard enough

Do you really think we are too retarded to not get it. It's borderline not funny and desperate.

who doesn't get it? Oh.. you mean because it's a desperate and terribly unfunny play on words? Like most of the garbage pop culture references Dreamworks gives us?

My kids will see it. Your kids will probably see it. Kids across the globe will see it...it will make tons of money and at the end Dreamworks will greenlight a fifth movie.
*sighs*

never was a fan of any of these films. even the first. even the second. all the '90's pop culture references' doesn't seem to have vanished either. "where my witches at?" shit guys, whats the title theme? 'Who Let The Dogs Out?' or more Smash Mouth...

also, bflatt, i'm glad the pictures work for you but i don't particularly find that kids and adults finding different levels of appreciation in a family film an accomplishment on the filmmakers part. PIXAR succeeds because parents and children

PIXAR succeeds because parents and children love them for the exact same reason, it's something they share- something that bonds them in the communal theatrical experience. being on different levels with your kid during a family movie already makes it B-class, if that.

Super Excited

Really? I'm surprised I think these posters are hilarious and capture the essence of Shrek - that it can relate to adults and children on totally different levels. I remember watching the first one years ago and then again just last year and finding tons of things I never thought were hilarious. Even the second I enjoyed. While I admittedly wasnt a HUGE fan of the third I really believe that they can come back and end the series strong.
In response to the extra tidbit: what about Austin

In response to the extra tidbit: what about Austin Powers? That made Mike Meyers tons as live action the only big flop i can think of was The Love Guru and well, lets be honest, even as a Canadian who loves the least that just wasn't quality work. He was amazing in Inglorious Basterds but that was just an amazing movie

After I realized part two was just an animated version of "Meet the Parents" I officially gave up on the series. I will not see this as I skipped Part three.
