Whedon Casts Cabin

Joss Whedon has found his victims. Relative unknowns Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams will star as "the kids" in Whedon's horror film THE CABIN IN THE WOODS. The film's plot is being kept tightly under wraps by Whedon who wrote the film and is also producing, though the screenplay has been described as "genre-tweaking". Whedon spoke of the ensemble he's gathered, leading us to believe that these youngins are going to a cabin, and they most likely ain't coming back.

Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding. Each of the 'kids' is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we've corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can't wait to harm them.

And we in turn can't wait to watch them be harmed. The creator of "Buffy" has had plenty of experience with blood and violence, so expect some especially creative and brutal death scenes. "Lost" writer and producer Drew Goddard will make his directorial debut for Whedon, creating a fanboy dynamic duo of sorts. With Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford already cast, this one's got "best horror movie ever" written all over it.

Extra Tidbit: Joss Whedon's favorite movie is THE MATRIX. Go figure.

I'm with you shotgun, I thought Buffy blew cock. I mean humongous, horse cock. I too, thought that Allison Hannigan's atrocious acting went on far too long on that show. I happened to catch a few episodes from time to time and never got the fuss.

Now, I did happen to see Hush in a film appreciation class and it did frighten me to hell. I mean, it was creepy as shit. I wouldn't say it was so much Whedon, then it was the make-up/acting of the gentlemen. They were very, very frightening.

Shotgun, you're right to an extent. It's impossible for a TV show to be excellent 100% of the time when it runs for 7 seasons.

However, there are some very choice moments that I think only a devout follower or a lucky channel-flipper may have stumbled upon.

I believe Whedon does know horror. If you've ever seen the Emmy-winning episode of Buffy titled "Hush" you'd probably understand that.

Having said that - I think you and other people that didn't follow the show at all are the only

Having said that - I think you and other people that didn't follow the show at all are the only people in America that thinks that about Buffy. Now if you only watched seasons 5 through 7...yeeeah I could see where you're coming from. But season 3 is some of the best television I've ever seen.

Is it just me?

Am I the only soul in America that thinks the Buffy the Vampire TV show was a giant stinking turd?

The acting sucked, the writing sucked, the plot lines were retarded, and the god-damn vampires had fucking Klingon brows.

Now while I am looking forward to this film and do however respect Joss Whedon because Firefly was freakin' awesome, I still don't want to hear that he "knows" horror because of that god foresaken show.

Am I right here?
