Youth, Revolt poster

Jun. 22, 2009by: James Thoo
Today we have a poster for Michael Cera's latest movie, YOUTH IN REVOLT. The movie is coming-of-age story (based on the book by C.D. Payne) about an "ultra-angsty" teen named Nick Twisp (played by Michael Cera) who does pretty much everything humanly possible to win the heart of (and lose his virginity to) his dream girl Sheeni Saunders.

I don't know where to go with Cera. On the one hand saying he has range is like saying Heroclix is a great way to pick up chicks. But on the other he's really good at doing what he does. I'm not sure if I thought I had a conclusive comment for that though, but now that I'm here, at the end of all this, turns out I don't.

Extra Tidbit: Zach Galifianakis co-stars!

unless Nick and his buddy blow each other, which is one of the most disgusting things in the book but funniest and exemplifies the character, this movie is a waste.

I love Cera. It's okay if one doesn't like his style or whatever, but I hate when people say he doesn't have range. WTF? That argument could be applied to every single comedian/comedic actor that ever existed. Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, Richard Pryer, Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, etc...and new guys like Jack Black, Will Ferrel, Chris Rock. I mean, just because someone has a specific personality doesn't mean he is a "one-note" actor.

Review

Unfortunately, Galifianakis is pretty muted in this film. It's a worthless role and I think the guy should be a star. If you want to read a review for the film, check it out here: [link]

Useless....

Cera is one of the worst actors to ever set foot in front of a camera. It's almost 100% certain that he'll be playing the same boring, confused and moronic kid in all of his upcoming films.

Can we get rid of this asshole and make room for someone with talent? I can't believe someone this useless is on the rise to making millions of dollars.

I like him, Scott Pilgrim will determine his range though.
