New Spirit trailer

UPDATE – Yahoo! Movies has posted an official version of the trailer described below. You can stream it below or head to Yahoo! for some HD lovin’.

I, quite frankly, never cared much about Frank Miller’s upcoming comic adaptation THE SPIRIT. Sure it has Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes and that’s enough to get my interest piqued on some level but then again their participation didn’t make THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL or GHOST RIDER any better. But now, I’m straight up dying to see THE SPIRIT because I can’t believe how unbelievably bad it looks. Perhaps I’m being a bit harsh but this trailer doesn’t jive with me one bit. It’s so ridiculously over-the-top that I can hardly believe I’m watching it. If THE DARK KNIGHT is the one end of the spectrum that takes comic book movies super seriously, THE SPIRIT is on the waaay on the other end. Aside from getting douche chills just looking at the footage, the trailer itself is quite poorly cut together. It’s almost as if they don’t know how to sell this movie so all they’ve got left is pimping out the hot ladies. Or showing off Sam Jackson in Nazi regalia. Seriously. Pretty sure it will be shown off at Comic-Con and I can’t wait to see what the reaction will be…

New Spirit trailer!

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

Not quite sure what to say about THE SPIRIT trailer that isn’t obvious. It looks like SIN CITY, it looks like it would be fun on shrooms, it looks like it would probably be a chore to sit through otherwise (keeping in mind that I am not the world’s biggest SIN CITY fan). Not that there aren’t some vivid visuals (like a really bizarre Sam Jackson), but does it look like a real movie? Not really…

Of course, THE SPIRIT comes at us from Frank Miller, based on the character created by Will Eisner, Miller’s hero. It stars Gabriel Macht as the title character (whom the trailer appears to be the least interested in), Sam Jackson as his foe, the “Octopus”, and a bevy of hotties as chicks with silly names. It hits theaters on Christmas Day.

What say you folks? Is this something you might be interested in, or can it go shove its own head up its own ass? Spit bullets after checking out the trailer HERE!
