New trailer and featurette for Jackie Robinson biopic 42, starring Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman

Director Brian Helgeland‘s Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, has a new trailer and featurette, highlighting the illustrious career of the famed baseball player who became the first African-American to join a major league team, breaking the color barrier and changing the game forever. Helgeland has been a reliable writer for a while now, but with only a handful of pics under his directing belt. However, some of those were pretty slick, including PAYBACK and A KNIGHT’S TALE, so his involvement on this could very well be another win.

Harrison Ford looks to be “acting his age” these days and this role fits perfectly with the next evolution of his career. It’s nice to see the actor switching it up and jumping into roles we never would’ve seen him in 15-20 years ago. Overall, this looks engaging, but not necessarily a must-see. It’s going to have to really “knock it out of the park” to lure me into a dark theater, but I never say never. Except for SMURFS. Never. Ever.
