If you’re a struggling writer trying to get published it may be in your best interest to start a young adult novel series. You don’t have to take any real time or effort, just throw a bunch of ideas together and wait for some studio to buy the rights to it.  Is there a series that isn’t being adapted into a film?

I understand every studio is looking for the next TWILIGHT or HUNGER GAMES but seriously, when does it end?

Coming Soon has learned that The Weinstein Company have bought the rights to BLOOD SISTERS, based on the first book in the “Vampire Academy” series by author Richelle Mead. The series consists of six books (as well as a spin off-series of four more books) and has sold over 8 million copies to date.

The film will be directed by Mark Waters (MEAN GIRLS, MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS) based on a script from his brother Dan Waters (HEATHERS, HAPPY CAMPERS). Attached to star are Zooey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovsky

And what is the synopsis for BLOOD SISTERS?

“Rose Hathaway develops a mental and spiritual bond with her BVFF (best vampire friend forever) Princess Lissa. The two girls attend a strict school for vampires designed to retain their humanity where it is Rose’s task to protect the Princess. Among the everyday issues faced by teenage vampires Rose falls for Dimitri, their dreamy guardian, and together the three battle the mysterious forces of the evil Moroi who are set on destroying the Princess’s bloodline.‬”

BVFF…I want to go slap happy on whoever came up with that term.

Clearly I am not in the demographic that this is geared toward (and I’m assuming at least 90% of you reading this aren’t either) but dear GOD does that sound awful. I’m not a pedophile that needs a good ice breaker so I haven’t read the books, and it’s probably not fair for me to judge them. Maybe the books are good but I seriously doubt it and I can only imagine how the film is going to turn out.

BLOOD SISTERS will go in to production this summer and has a release date set for February 14th, 2014.
