Holy crap on a bicycle. I don’t even know what that means, but this new red band trailer for EVIL DEAD is pretty f*cking brutal, and I mean that in the best way possible.
In the middle of eating some sushi, I find that the trailer has already dropped. I am half-way through a piece when I start watching, by the time it’s over I regret continuing to consume it. The breath, or lack of it, that Sam Raimi has brought back into this story has certainly taken a different direction. More gore? Check. More brutality? Check. More blood? Check. If it’s on the horror splatter list, then it’s probably in here. What I am now asking myself is will this be one of those that is just gore-porn? I can’t imagine that it would be with Raimi there with the assist. It’s definitely not a weak trailer by any means. I just wonder what spin that Diablo Cody has put on it in terms of script. After watching YOUNG ADULT, my feelings of annoyance waned.
Check out the trailer and let us know what you think. If the kids are around, tell them to go to a different room. Also, as a head’s up, many are saying it gives away the whole thing so if you aren’t into that, you may want to just wait for the final product.
Synopsis: Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.
EVIL DEAD, starring Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez is slated to release on April 13, 2013.
