It only makes sense for a movie titled SING to feature a lot of singing within. Probably a good deal of dancing, too.
But, when you take a look at the latest trailer for the animated flick SING and you realize that nearly all of the four minute preview is chalked up to animals belting out tunes with very little else to show for it, it makes you wonder exactly what we’re going to get here this Christmas.
I don’t know that I can sit through 90 minutes of musical routines with little bits of story and inspirational character vignettes sprinkled throughout to try to make any of it mean something. It feels like a version of THE VOICE or AMERICAN IDOL or any number of those musical talent shows, only wedged into animated form. Perhaps there is something more to SING, but this trailer certainly doesn’t show it.
SING pulls up the curtain on December 21.
