Forget about painting fences and sanding floors, the upcoming Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues video game is where a true martial artist can hone their skills. That's right, students, it's a Streets of Rage-style beat-'em-up where you can play as Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), as well as many up-and-coming fighters from Cobra Kai or the Miyagi Dojo. Do you want to know the best part? The game is out today on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One!

The game contains dialogue featuring the voices of Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. Players can swap between eight playable characters seamlessly in battle, each with their own unique upgradeable attacks, combos, and skill trees. Players can also face fierce enemies and bosses in hard-hitting brawls, and explore the Cobra Kai universe across 28 story missions.
If authenticity is what you're hoping for, have no fear! Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues also features an original score by Cobra Kai series composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson. Inspired by the incredibly popular Netflix Original Series, the new game will transport players to iconic locations from the showroom floor of LaRusso Motors to the Miyagi Dojo grounds to high school halls and more! As you progress, you'll fight your way through bullies, thugs, and perhaps an iconic sensei or two.
Back in my day, we had a little game on the Nintendo Entertainment System called The Karate Kid, and it was kind of the worst. Oh, don't get me wrong, I played it until my thumbs were ready to fall off but boy was it rough. To begin, the platforming was god awful, timed button presses were a chore on the NES hardware, and damn near every minigame felt as if it existed only to test your patience rather than your skills. All that said, it did have a sweet chiptune soundtrack, and it was always satisfying to crane kick Johnny right in the breadbasket.
While I've yet to play Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues, the trailer certainly does look like the developers are cribbing much from games like Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, and Final Fight. Plus, there's that Street Fighter V-style promo art to consider. You know what, though? With solid animation, fun voice work, and flashy super moves, this new game could be a worthy addition to the current Cobra Kai fervor that is sweeping across fandoms right now.
