Well see, now this is great. A while back, celebrated author Michael Chabon (WONDER BOYS) wrote a script for SPIDER-MAN 2, which didn’t get used. But now, in an act of extreme benevolence, the quirky literary journal McSweeney’s has put Chabon’s entire script for the film online, which you can download as a pdf HERE (scroll down a little). Chabon was one of four writer’s brought on to work on the script, and eventually was given a “screen story” credit. Why this never got used, I don’t know. And while SPIDER-MAN 2 was a great film and easily the best in the trilogy, I can only imagine that this screenplay is better than the one that used (maybe I’ll actually read it and find out). Chabon is a great, Pulitzer prize-winning author, but I guess that may not translate into efficient screenwriting.
