Though it has been called a “dramedy” reboot of the popular sitcom THE MUNSTERS, NBC is really playing up the zany humor in this 30-second preview for MOCKINGBIRD LANE.
The pilot, which will now air as a TV special October 26th, looks a bit too much like Tim Burton’s DARK SHADOWS for its own good. This approach actually makes sense because, you know, it’s an adaptation of the goddamned MUNSTERS. Really, though, NBC and Fuller have been pitching the series as the blackly humorous story of a human munching monster family. Sadly, the cannibal element is barely teased at here.
The special stars Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi, and Eddie Izzard as Herman, Lily, and Grandpa Munster, respectively. Check them out below in the clip and give us your thoughts on whether of not MOCKINGBIRD LANE looks to have its sh*t together.
