Buena Vista aka Disney sent over their schedule for the new year over the weekend, which also included some shots of the upcoming flick THE INVISIBLE, which lands January 26, 2007 and stars Justin Chatwin, Margarita Levieva, Marcia Gay Harden, Callum Keith Rennie, Amber Borycki and Michelle Harrison and is directed by David S. Goyer.

Somehow, I don’t think the film will do too well, given the release date (the ‘housecleaning’ time for studios), a cast of mostly TV actors, the fact that it’s a remake, and because Goyer hasn’t really shown that he can direct (pop in BLADE: TRINITY to see why).

In THE INVISIBLE (a remake of the Swedish film DEN OSYNLIGE), a high school student named Nick Powell (played by Chatwin) is assaulted and left for dead after a tragic case of mistaken identity. However, he fails to “cross over” to the afterlife but instead remains in limbo between life and death, thus becoming literally invisible. As an invisible being, he watches helplessly as his mother (played by Harden) and the police search for his attacker, unaware that he is merely hours away from perishing completely. Nick must find his attacker, Annie (played by Levieva), before his body expires. She is a troubled teen who is neglected (thus metaphorically invisible to others) after the death of her mother and is on the run from the law.
