I took it as a given that Jennifer Tilly would be returning to play Tiffany in the second season of the Chucky TV series. Her presence is necessary to show us where the story goes after the events of season 1. But as it turns out, there was no contract in place to guarantee that Tilly would be back for season 2… until now. Deadline reports that a deal has been made and Tilly will reprise the role of Tiffany in Chucky season 2.
A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (remake excluded), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off. Mancini, who has written every Child’s Play film (except that remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner are executive producing Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
In addition to Tilly, the first season of the series starred Zackary Arthur, Fiona Dourif, Devon Sawa, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods, and David Kohlsmith. And yes, Brad Dourif provided the voice of Chucky.
Deadline notes that Chucky, which aired on the NBCUniveral cable networks Syfy and USA, was “a breakout for NBCU, reaching 11.6 million viewers in its first season across all platforms.”
Season 2 is expected to start airing sometime this fall.
