When will Mortal Kombat II make its HBO Max debut?

Mortal Kombat IIMortal Kombat II

If you’ve been waiting for New Line Cinema‘s Mortal Kombat II to make its global streaming debut, you’re in luck! Today, we’re happy to share that the bloody, bone-breaking sequel is coming exclusively to HBO Max on Friday, July 24. Then, on Saturday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m. ET, the film arrives on HBO linear! Want more? A version of Mortal Kombat II with American Sign Language (ASL) will also stream exclusively on HBO Max the same day, performed by ASL Dubber Justin Perez and directed by Rosa Lee Timm. The interpretation for this film will feature Visual Vernacular, a unique sign language form that combines elements of ASL, mime, facial expressions, and body movements to convey highly visual stories.

Mortal Kombat II features the fan-favorite champions, as well as Johnny Cage, pitted against one another in the ultimate no-holds-barred battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn, which threatens the very existence of Earthrealm and its defenders. The film stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

When will Mortal Kombat II get a physical release?

If watching Mortal Kombat II on streaming services isn’t good enough, and you want to own a physical copy of the film (like my wife insists), the film, directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, based on the video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, comes to 4K Blu-ray on July 28.

Simon McQuoid teases Mortal Kombat 3 and more

While discussing the franchise’s future, JoBlo’s Jay Saint G asked Simon McQuoid whether we can expect a Mortal Kombat 3. McQuoid would not confirm or deny New Line’s plans for a threequel, but he did say, “I think the lifecycle of this film needs to totally play out before anything could be stated officially. So, I would say, wait and see.” Interestingly, McQuoid also touched on the next game in the Mortal Kombat franchise, widely expected to be Mortal Kombat 13, saying, “From the little bits that Ed’s told me of what’s coming up, it’s very exciting what they’ve got. I can’t divulge anything—that would be wrong of me—but what they’re cooking up is pretty exciting. I think the next thing they do is going to be quite exciting.”
