God’s Badass

Jim Caviezel may not be returning to his defining role as everyone’s favorite lord and savior in Mel Gibson’s The Resurrection of the Christ, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still deal out biblical justice and quote God-themed action one-liners against sinister forces. Sony Pictures has just released the trailer for Ghost Soldier, an action thriller that sees Caviezel protect the downtrodden from greedy corporations. The movie uses the “Rambo” trope of a former soldier who comes out of hiding to fight for the righteous, but updated with more modern warfare as Caviezel uses advanced stealth technology and weapons. Check out the trailer above.

The film stars Caviezel and joining him in the cast are Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt with Shea Whigham.

The official synopsis from Sony Pictures reads,
“In the action-thriller Ghost Soldier, Jim Caviezel stars as Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a solitary man with a mysterious past, living a quiet life off the grid in his hometown. But when a powerful foreign corporation descends on his community determined to seize his and his neighbors’ land for a massive payday, Fitz takes action — he’s actually a former Special Forces soldier and advanced weapons developer. Armed with weapons no one has ever seen, a lifetime of lethal military training, and an unwavering code of justice, Fitz becomes the one thing his enemies never anticipated: a one-man war they can’t win.” The press release for the film also sports the film’s action tagline: He’s not a threat, he’s a guarantee.

William Eubank directs from a script written by Chris Papasadero. David Zelon and William Sherak are on board as producers. Meanwhile, Jim Caviezel, Joseph Micucci, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt are serving as executive producers on the film.

Ghost Soldier has been rated PG-13 by The Motion Picture Association for the following reasons: strong violence, some bloody images, and language.

The movie hits theaters on November 6.
