Crocodile Dundee
Paul Hogan took America by storm as the outback crocodile hunter in 1986’s hit film Crocodile Dundee. It’s now one of the many pop culture bullet points of the 80s, but it would be the second highest-grossing film of its year, behind a little film called Top Gun. People may not realize it now, but Crocodile Dundee is one of the most profitable films ever made. It was shot for only 8 million dollars in Australian currency and made $336 million at the global box office, equal to about $800 million now. It made Hogan a bit of a sensation, but he wouldn’t be able to find projects that made the kind of impact that the Crocodile Dundee movies have.
40th anniversary 4K Blu-ray
According to Blu-ray.com, Paramount Home Media Distribution will be releasing a new 4K Blu-ray of Crocodile Dundee for its 40th anniversary. There hasn’t been a particular date announced just yet, but it is said that it’s scheduled to be hitting retailers some time this fall.
The description reads,
“Paul Hogan’s hilarious, endearing performance made ‘Crocodile’ Dundee the biggest box-office comedy smash of 1986 as a free spirited Australian who hunts crocodiles with his bare hands and drinks mere mortals under the table. But he’s about to face the ultimate torture test–a trip to New York City.”
There is also yet to be special features announced for this releasing, but it is set to be a steelbook that includes both the 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray. The technical specs read:

Crocodile Dundee series
The second film in the series was also a huge blockbuster in 1988. The film would pivot from the first’s “fish out of water” rom-com story to a more action-oriented fare, as Mick and Sue become targets for a drug cartel and Dundee takes them back to his home turf in Australia, where he has the advantage in a Rambo-esque manner.
The third film, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, wasn’t the success that the first two were. The movie dropped off critically and financially and the franchise had remained pretty dormant ever since.
