New Alien movie in the works from Raised by Wolves creator

Here we go again. THR reports that another new Alien movie is in the works for 20th Century Studios. This one is set to be written by Aaron Guzikowski, who created Raised by Wolves for HBO Max and wrote Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners.

Sorry, Alien: Romulus

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the report states that this will not be a sequel to Alien: Romulus. That film was hugely successful and reinvigorated the long-running franchise, but…nope. We’re doing something else.

Instead, sources say the film will follow in the footsteps of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, continuing the story of David, the sinister android played by Michael Fassbender. However, Fassbender isn’t yet attached.

At the moment, Scott is just producing the project along with Michael Pruss via their Scott Free production banner. No director is attached, but I can imagine Scott might want to bring David’s story to a close himself.

Earlier this summer, Scott teased that he’d returned to the franchise and was actively working on a new film. “I’ve already got a footprint for the next Alien,” he said. “We did Prometheus, and then Alien: Covenant. So, I’m picking up where we left off in Covenant with Micheal Fassbender, who now thinks he’s Ozymandias.“

What About Alien: Romulus 2?

Set between the events of Alien and Aliens, Alien: Romulus follows “a group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” Director Fede Álvarez wasn’t going to return for the sequel, but he did co-write the script. However, finding a new director has proven to be difficult, and there were even rumours that the project had been cancelled, which 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell denied.

The beauty of this franchise is that it can support all kinds of different stories, so I’m confident we will see a follow-up to Alien: Romulus at some point, but perhaps not until Scott has completed his David saga.

Do you want to see another David sequel? An Alien: Romulus sequel? Or something entirely different?
