While fans are eagerly awaiting Zack Snyder's Justice League, the director has another film on deck for May that will definitely make you recall Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake. The first trailer for Army of the Dead has been released and it looks like it's going to be a real treat for those ready for some "strong bloody zombie violence."

Army of the Dead has been in development for years and fans will finally get to see it all come to life when the film premieres on Netflix on May 21, 2021. Described as a zombie heist movie, the film follows a group of mercenaries that plot a heist on a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. In addition to Bautista, the film also stars Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, and Matthias Schweighofer.

Zack Snyder directed and co-wrote the film alongside Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. Army of the Dead will also be accompanied by an international multi-language prequel movie directed by cast member Matthias Schweighofer, which will follow his own character, Ludwig Dieter. There is also an anime series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, that will focus on the origin of Dave Bautista's character Scott as he and a rescue crew try to navigate the mysterious beginning of the zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. Given all the material that will be accompanying the film, it seems like Netflix feels they have a real potential franchise on their hands.
