Bueller? Bueller? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off cast reunites for Reunited Apart

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In FERRIS BUELLER's DAY OFF, Matthew Broderick ditches school to have one of the best ditch days to be put on the big screen but the actor did not skip out on Josh Gad's Reunited Apart YouTube series which saw the star reuniting virtually with his co-stars from the 80s teen classic.

The episode served as the season finale of Gad's popular series which has made quarantine a bit more entertaining thanks to Gad bringing together cast members and crew from such films as BACK TO THE FUTURE, THE GOONIES, GHOSTBUSTERS and THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Broderick was joined on the BUELLER episode with co-stars Jennifer Grey, Alan Ruck, and Mia Sara. You can check out the reunion episode below:

Broderick and Ruck actually hadn't seen each other since a chance encounter 15 years ago but the duo didn't miss a beat during the reunion, picking up on their camaraderie like it was only yesterday. Ruck, who plays Cameron Frye in film, worked with Broderick before they went into making the John Hughes film and they both recalled auditioning together. Broderick, after a lot of prodding, also uttered his signature line from the film which I'm sure pleased the fans that watched: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t look around once in a while, you might miss it.”

Several memorable FERRIS BUELLER supporting actors also popped in including Ben Stein, who fans remember as the economics teacher taking class attendance on the film: "Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?" Stein called landing the now-famous role the "happiest day of my life." To close out the reunion installment, various stars reenacted famous scenes from Hughes' films. The director, known for defining hits of the era such as THE BREAKFAST CLUB, PRETTY IN PINK, SIXTEEN CANDLES and many more, passed away in 2009 at the age of 59. The actors from Hughes' films of the past to pop in and say some of their classic lines were Chevy Chase, Molly Ringwald, Catherine O'Hara, Steve Martin, and more.

Reunited Apart isn't just about recalling nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. In each episode of the series, Gad highlights a different charity and tries to raise money for those struggling during this time. The charity featured on this episode is CORE, which provides financial relief when a food and beverage employee with children faces a health crisis, death, or natural disaster.

I'll take any moment to look back on FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF because it's one of my favorite films from its era and it still holds up today. I'm also going to miss Gad's Reunited Apart which I assume will return after its season finale because it has become quite popular online. Definitely been one of the highlights to pop up during the quarantine break from reality.
