It's going to be a little more time until we get to experience Guillermo del Toro's latest film, CRIMSON PEAK, in theaters (check out some of that period-piece action here) but thankfully we won't have to wait much longer to check out his directorial skills on the smaller screen. The Strain was initially planned to be a film, before becoming a book series. Now, with co-creator Chuck Hogan, Guillermo del Toro is bringing that series to FX. So far we've gotten a look at some pretty cool promo videos, but here's a trailer that presents a little more story.

Enjoy some vampire carnage:

I'm excited to see del Toro take vampires back to a more monstrous state. The vampires of the Bram Stoker and Ann Rice variety are all fine and dandy, but sometimes you want your movie monsters to just tear shit up. I think del Toro and Hogan aim to deliver that, and with Guillermo directing the pilot, I'm completely sold.

The Strain, starring Corey Stoll, Sean Astin, David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland and Miguel Gomez, hits FX on July 13, 2014.
