Cool Horror Videos: Mike Mendez battles a stop-motion Guillermo Del Toro

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like many of us, filmmaker Mike Mendez – whose credits include THE CONVENT, BIG ASS SPIDER!, THE LAST HEIST, and DON'T KILL IT – is stuck at home, waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to calm down. Unlike many of us, Mendez has the skills to use his vast collection of action figures to make one hell of an entertaining short film, as he has demonstrated by sharing the 8 minute, action-packed short THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE

Mendez posted the short on Instagram first, then put it on his YouTube channel with the following description:

Made while in quarantine, this is my instagram story from 4/02/2020. It chronicles a bizarre incident where a strange man was stealing my cookies.

That "strange man" happens to be a Guillermo del Toro action figure, and his Oreo theft is just keeping him fed while he plots to take over the world. Only Mendez can stop this maniacal little GDT from reshaping the Earth in the image of PAN'S LABYRINTH.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE is a whole lot of fun, so kill 8 minutes of your own quarantine time by checking out the video embedded above.
