Cool Video: Freddy vs Jason is a work of unparalleled genius!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Hey, so this is fun! A new video released today from YouTube channel Scaredy Cats has seemed to have telepathically read my mind and put my very own thoughts onto a YouTube video, as Scaredy Matt (a.k.a. Though Slime and host of the Scaredy Cats YT channel) is also a huge fan of FREDDY VS. JASON, judging by the title of the video, "Freddy vs Jason is a work of unparalleled genius, and if you dislike it you are a bad person."

Obviously, the title is facetious, as even Matt himself admits the film isn't perfect (including the use of an unnecessary homophobic slur), but that it's close to perfect for what it is (i.e. a cash-grab beat-em-up between two over-the-hill franchises). Like me, he thinks the film did the best it could with the premise, by a) having fun with it, b) never delving into self-conscious self-parody, and c) made by obvious fans, with many nice Easter Eggs, and a healthy adherence to lore and mythos (and that any changes are forgivable, if not an improvement). Hell, even if you're not a fan, give the video a chance, as maybe it won't change your mind – but it could give you a newfound appreciation, nonetheless.

However, I must say, we do disagree with the soundtrack, which I think rules and own to this day. But…that's an acquired taste, I'll admit.

Anyway, here's the official synopsis:

Two horror icons face off in this supernatural movie. Disfigured serial killer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), who attacks his victims in their dreams, has lost much of his power since citizens of his town have become less afraid of him. Enlisting the help of fellow violent murderer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger), Freddy orchestrates a new killing spree. However, when the hockey-mask-wearing psychopath won't stop chopping up Freddy's intended victims, the two ghouls start to battle each other.

So, what do you guys think? Fans of the movie too? Either way, sound off below!
