Creepy trailer for Turkish horror The Jinn (El Cin)

Turkey isn’t really recognized as a country that produces great cinematic fare and is mostly known for the gloriously trashy genre fare populated by cheap rip-offs of Hollywood fare (thanks to a lack of copyright laws for entire decades). My only exposure to Turkish cinema was from watching the goofy sword-and-sorcery films featuring Turkish hero TARKAN, and if you’ve ever happened to catch one of those I’m sure your opinion of Turkish cinema is about as high as mine.

But that may be about to change. Turkish director Hasan Karacadağ has been producing quality horror for the past decade and his latest, the based-on-a-true-story EL CIN (aka THE JINN), has just gotten itself a creepily effective new trailer, which we have for you below (complete with English subtitles). Go ahead and give it a look, and be sure to stick with it til the end…it’s quite the shocker!

Man, if that’s the kind of stuff Turkey is producing now I need to start getting ahold of some of it. Not sure when, or if, EL CIN will see a release in North America, but we’ll keep you posted on it if we hear it.
