Brad Inglesby, who wrote for the acclaimed HBO show, Mare of Easttown, had been announced as a writer of a new Apple Original drama, titled Echo Valley. The new feature has already tapped Julianne Moore and Euphoria‘s Syndey Sweeny to star as mother and daughter in the drama. The Hollywood Reporter has now learned that actor Domhnall Gleeson will be joining the cast of the film that will be produced by Ridley Scott for his company, Scott Free.

The plot synopsis per THR reads,
Echo Valley centers on Kate Garrett (Moore), who is reeling from a personal tragedy and spending her days boarding and training horses at the picturesque Echo Valley Farm, in southeast Pennsylvania. When her wayward daughter Clare (Sweeney) arrives late one night covered in someone else’s blood, the story veers into thriller territory and examines how far a mother will go to save her child.”

Gleeson will be playing a character named Jackie. Jackie is a local criminal who disrupts Kate’s quiet farm life by forcing himself into it. He also has knowledge about some shocking secrets about her family.

The thriller is set to be directed by Michael Pearce, who had won a BAFTA for Beast. The writer, Inglesby, developed the story with Michael Pruss. His show, Mare of Easttown, was a big hit on HBO and had won four Emmys. The hit series starred Kate Winslet, Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, John Douglas Thompson, Joe Tippett, and more. The show aired in a seven-episode format, and the strength of its popularity is already building good buzz for Echo Valley.

While Ridley Scott is producing with his company, Pruss, Ingelsby, and Kevin Walsh are on board to produce for The Walsh Company. The executive producers of the movie include Scott Greenberg, Scott Free’s Rebecca Feuer and Nicole Jordan-Webber. In addition, Erika Olde and Sam Roseme will executive produce via Black Bicycle Entertainment. Tanja Tawadjoh will be pulling co-producing duties. Echo Valley will be Ingelsby’s fourth project with Scott Free after Out of the Furnace from 2013, American Woman from 2015, and Our Friend from 2019.
