Edward Holcroft returns for Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

If you haven't yet watched KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, there will be some spoilers. Consider yourself warned. Matthew Vaughn's upcoming KINGSMAN sequel is set to kick off production next month with Taron Egerton reprising his role as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin. News of other cast members, both new and old, have been trickling in and now Deadline is reporting that Edward Holcroft, who played smarmy turncoat Charlie Hesketh in the first film, will be returning for the sequel as well.

The last time we saw Holcroft's character he was getting his ass handed to him by Eggsy and was presumed dead, but now that he's set to return for the sequel, perhaps he's not quite as dead as we thought; that, or we're in for flashbacks/ghosts/robots/etc. Given that Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) had put explosive implants in everyone which Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) then detonated, my bet is that Eggsy unintentionally shorted out Hesketh's implant when he zapped him with 50 000 volts. The KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE sequel will be a more international affair this time around, perhaps even giving us a look at the American chapter of Kingsman, as Halle Berry (X-MEN) has been in talks to take on the role of the head of the CIA. As for the villain, it's been said that Julianne Moore (THE HUNGER GAMES – MOCKINGJAY) may be game to personify the new threat to mankind.

The KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE sequel is set for a June 6, 2017 release.
